(Sorry, accidentely created the report before finishing the description) Description of problem: When I login and enter my password and press "Return" key, the login fail (looks the same as if the password would have been wrong). If I use the mouse to press the "Login" button instead it works. How reproducible: Happens always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Fast user switch 2. Select user 3. Enter password 4. Press Return key Actual results: Login fails Expected results: Login succeeds Additional info: I tried this so often that I am sure I always entered the correct password (at least if the return key doesn't spit random characters...)
I have the same problem under fc15 x86_64 with gdm. My keyboard layout is german nodeadkeys. If i used the return-key from the keyboard to confirm, login is not possible. I'm falling back to the begin of the login. It only works if i confirm with a mouse klick. I have also updated x-server to xorg-x11-server-1.9.99.1-6.20101201.fc15 today. But the problem still exits.
As it seems to be related, yes I am using german keyboard layout, too though I think I removed the nodeadkeys variant because it was breaking X completely and was a known bug in the first alpha.
This happens also with the default US keyboard. The problem exists in both F15 and Rawhide, both i686 and x86_64. I heard about the problem from someone else a few days ago but can't find another bug report.

I know this, but with xorg-x11-server-1.9.99.1-6.20101201.fc15 you don't have to do the workaround. See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=676827
I had the same issue, but it was related to bug 678825, thus updating to ibus-1.3.99.20110206-4.fc15 fixed the issue for me. I am using the standard German keyboard layout (KEYTABLE="de", MODEL="pc105", LAYOUT="de").
Thx for the info. Updating ibus fix the issue also by me.
Hi This or similar issue has appeared this morning after updating the Alpha. Before the update I could log in without problems Now, after the update (which contained a GDM update I could see) I am not allowed to log in. - I click on my listed profile - I get the password field - I enter my working password and press ENTER - GDM thinks for a while and then shows me the login again. I have checked my password by logging in to tty2. This works great with my profile and password. Cheers Tom
(In reply to comment #8) What you describe is a different issue reported in bug 683157.
I can confirm this new issue with gdm. For me i change now to slim and xfce, and everythaing works fine :) Goodbye gnome.
The original issue is definitly fixed (the other is bug 683157) and the last comment is pure ranting. Closing...
