Description collura 2011-03-01 22:55:40 UTC
Description of problem:

when setting the login theme in 'systemsettings - login screen - theme'
the thumbnail picture in the setting screen for the oxygen theme seems to display the theme you get when you select the oxygen-air theme and vice versa.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

 kdm-4.5.5-2.fc14 (x86_64)

How reproducible:

 always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. do fresh install, run updates
2. set login screen theme to oxygen theme
3. get login theme of thumbnail displayed for oxygen-air theme

Actual results:

choosing oxygen theme for login screen gives the theme whose thumbnail is associated with the oxygen-air theme as displayed in the login screen theme settings

Expected results:

the thumbnails match the theme

I can't reproduce what you describe, oxygen should appear dark/black and oxygen-air kde blue'ish. Is that not what you see?

Comment 3 collura 2011-03-03 19:24:32 UTC
hmm ok sorry thumbnails are correct indeed, so then it seems like i am getting one theme when choose other theme, but maybe a local video issue not allowing me to diffentiate?

thumbnails are as you describe i should see in 'settings - login screen - theme':
   oxygen as black with vines
oxygen-air as light blue with air-bubbles

so the thumbnails i see are correct (sorry for my lack of footwork)

maybe i am having some video issues or my screen is too
small to allow propper viewing of themes but it still seems like i get opposite oxygen theme when enable one or the other?

(using asus laptop with ati radeon hd2600 video driving the laptop screen of 17 inch diagonal set to 1920x1200)

i get a black main background for both themes (screen may be too small for me to tell difference)

the center login squares do have the appropriate inner-background color you described for the themes, ya.

however, i dont see the oxygen-vines of the thumbnail in the oxygen themed login at all, just a black background (guessing screen too small).

**the reason i am guessing they are reversed is that
for the oxygen theme (vines not bubbles) it doesnt show vines but i am getting the row of air-bubbles from lower left to upper right
that i see in oxygen-air thumbnail.**

**similarly for the oxygen-air theme (bubbles no vines) i dont seem to get the oxygen-air theme's air-bubbles at all but
just a flat black backrgound (reminiscent of oxygen). though i dont see vines of the oxygen theme i still wonder if it is because of the lack of bubbles?**

ps: i see a lot of cc's on bug, anyone else have input or is local issue?

removed 'thumbnails' from bug title.

OK, part of the problem could be that some of these kdm themes are using wallpaper backgrounds currently packaged separately in
kdebase-workspace-wallpapers,
and, if don't have that installed, well, you'll see a blank/black background instead. :-/

Comment 6 Rex Dieter 2011-10-24 14:31:29 UTC
Yeah, double checked and affected kdm themes include:
horos (requires Horos wallpaper)
oxygen-air (requires Air wallpaper)

so, we have a couple of choices.
1. do nothing, consider this NOTABUG (and advise folks to simply install kdebase-workspace-wallpapers)
2. split out these non-default kdm themes, into something like kde-themes, and to that new pkg add a kdebase-workspace-wallpapers dependency.

opinions?
