Note: This bug is displayed in read-only format because the product is no longer active in Red Hat Bugzilla.
RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

What locale did you run this installation with?

Comment 2 Alexander Todorov 2011-03-03 09:35:21 UTC
English/us. This was a default install and I didn't modify the defaults offered by anaconda.

Comment 3 Jan Pazdziora (Red Hat) 2011-03-03 09:49:12 UTC
Could you attach output of rpm -qa?

Comment 4 Alexander Todorov 2011-03-03 11:59:55 UTC

rpm -qa

I can no longer reproduce with the 0301.n.0 build. After selecting to register to RHN (in firstboot) the next screen tells me that my system is not setup for software updates and doesn't let me select between standard RHN or Satellite (where the crash happened).

Attached is rpm -qa output from this install however.

Comment 5 Jan Pazdziora (Red Hat) 2011-03-03 12:13:54 UTC
What version of subscription-manager-gnome is in the 0301.n.0 build? Is there subscription-manager-gnome installed at all, there?

I believe we've seen bugs with subscription-manager-gnome-0.95.1-1.el6.x86_64 which was on the failed install according to your rpm -qa.

Flipping component to subscription-manager for the guys to investigate and comment more.

Comment 6 Alexander Todorov 2011-03-03 12:24:42 UTC
subscription-manager-0.95.1-1.el6.x86_64
subscription-manager-firstboot-0.95.1-1.el6.x86_64
subscription-manager-gnome-0.95.1-1.el6.x86_64

All are installed on the system before firstboot runs.

Comment 7 Bryan Kearney 2011-03-10 22:04:29 UTC
This bug is no longer evident in 0.95.4.

You must enter a login.

Verifying...
[root@jsefler-onprem-server ~]# rpm -qa | grep subscription-manager
subscription-manager-gnome-0.95.6-1.git.0.21db593.el6.x86_64
subscription-manager-firstboot-0.95.6-1.git.0.21db593.el6.x86_64
subscription-manager-0.95.6-1.git.0.21db593.el6.x86_64

using F12 to navigate through firstboot without entering any data, I do not encounter any tracebacks. Instead I get blocked on the login screen prompting me to enter my username and password for entitlement registration, as expected.
See attachment... "You must enter a login."

You must enter a login. (on RHN Classic path)

If one checks the RHN Classic path and continues to use F12 to navigate through firstboot without entering any data, I still do not encounter any tracebacks and this time I get blocked on the RHN registration panel with "You must enter a login.", as expected.
