Created attachment 482172 [details] Actuality of the camera unmount fail in the GNOME desktop Description of problem: Not clear where to lay the blame here. I chose nautilus. Dbus is probably also good. I have a Muvi camera. This device acts as mass storage on usb when it is turned on. Product: Veho muvi Atom - Camcorder - 2.0 Mpix http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003BRD9QG/ref=ord_cart_shr?ie=UTF8&m=A185V8Q901AMWI That part works fine, apparently. I've cycled it a number of times. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): $ rpm -q nautilus nautilus-2.30.1-6.fc13.i686 How reproducible: Yes. I did this twice. Steps to Reproduce: 1. plug in the camera on usb with the power off 2. turn on the camera power 3. the new usb device is recognized 4. delete some files 5. in nautilus, 'safely unmount drive' 6. see the dialog (included nearby) 7. see the device is unmounted 8. power down the camera Actual results: Dialog (included nearby) Expected results: Smooth rollon/rolloff of the device Additional info: There is nothing in ~/.xsession-errors that is indicative. /var/log/messages says Mar 3 13:56:21 suffragette kernel: usb 3-2: USB disconnect, address 2 Mar 3 13:56:21 suffragette kernel: gspca: video0 disconnect Mar 3 13:56:21 suffragette kernel: gspca: video0 released Mar 3 13:56:44 suffragette kernel: usb 3-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 3 Mar 3 13:56:47 suffragette kernel: usb 3-2: New USB device found, idVendor=05e1, idProduct=0b02 Mar 3 13:56:47 suffragette kernel: usb 3-2: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3 Mar 3 13:56:47 suffragette kernel: usb 3-2: Product: USB Camera Mar 3 13:56:47 suffragette kernel: usb 3-2: Manufacturer: Syntek Mar 3 13:56:47 suffragette kernel: usb 3-2: SerialNumber: 0123456789AC Mar 3 13:56:47 suffragette kernel: scsi26 : usb-storage 3-2:1.0 Mar 3 13:56:48 suffragette kernel: scsi 26:0:0:0: Direct-Access Syntek USB MSDC 1.00 PQ: 0 ANSI: 1 Mar 3 13:56:48 suffragette kernel: sd 26:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg2 type 0 Mar 3 13:56:48 suffragette kernel: sd 26:0:0:0: [sdb] 31116288 512-byte logical blocks: (15.9 GB/14.8 GiB) Mar 3 13:56:48 suffragette kernel: sd 26:0:0:0: [sdb] Write Protect is off Mar 3 13:56:48 suffragette kernel: sd 26:0:0:0: [sdb] Assuming drive cache: write through Mar 3 13:56:48 suffragette kernel: sd 26:0:0:0: [sdb] Assuming drive cache: write through Mar 3 13:56:48 suffragette kernel: sdb: sdb1 Mar 3 13:56:48 suffragette kernel: sd 26:0:0:0: [sdb] Assuming drive cache: write through Mar 3 13:56:48 suffragette kernel: sd 26:0:0:0: [sdb] Attached SCSI removable disk The device seems undamaged. This message is a reminder that Fedora 13 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 13. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '13'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 13's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 13 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version, please add a comment here and someone will do it for you. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
Fedora 13 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2011-06-25. Fedora 13 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
