Description Tatsuo Kawasaki 2011-03-09 02:21:30 UTC
Description of problem:

x86info displays wrong information for T7300 Core 2 duo.
This CPU model is Core 2 Duo, but x86info displays "CPU Model: Core 2 Quad".

>CPU #1
>EFamily: 0 EModel: 0 Family: 6 Model: 15 Stepping: 11
>CPU Model: Core 2 Quad
>Processor name string: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU     T7300  @ 2.00GHz
>Type: 0 (Original OEM)	Brand: 0 (Unsupported)

I roughly read the x86info-1.25/Intel/identify-family6.c, and found:
 - This CPU (T7300/SLA45) model's stepping is not 10 (0xa) but 11 (0xb).
   (EFamily: 0 EModel: 0 Family: 6 Model: 15 Stepping: 11)
 - T7300 L2 cache is 4MB.
    (x86info -c says:  L2 cache: 4MB, 16-way associative. 64 byte line size.)

x86info-1.25/Intel/identify-family6.c:
575                 case 0xa:
576                         /* sCode Procname (IDA/HFM)
577                          * SLA43 T7700 (2.6GHz/2.4GHz)
578                          * SLA3M T7700 (2.6GHz/2.4GHz)
579                          * SLA44 T7500 (2.4GHz/2.2GHz)
580                          * SLA3N T7500 (2.4GHz/2.2GHz)
581                          * SLA45 T7300 (2.4GHz/2.0GHz)

588                         add_to_cpuname(" [E1]");
589                         break;
590
591                 case 0xb:

598                          */
599                         if (cpu->cachesize_L2 == 2048) {
600                                 add_to_cpuname("Duo [G0]");
601                         } else
602                                 add_to_cpuname("Quad ");
603                         break;

How reproducible:
run x86info command

Actual results:

[root@kawasaki ~]# x86info

Comment 1 Fedora End Of Life 2012-08-16 12:55:32 UTC
This message is a notice that Fedora 14 is now at end of life. Fedora
has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 14. It is
Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no
longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version'
of '14' have been closed as WONTFIX.

(Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this
occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.)

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen
this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we were unable to fix it before Fedora 14 reached end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
"Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that
version of Fedora.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
