Description IBM Bug Proxy 2011-03-22 13:21:38 UTC
---Problem Description---
When guest OS is started using qemu-kvm command appended with "-usb usbdevice
host:<vendorid>:<productid>", the USB passthrough device is not made available to the guest OS.
Though qemu-kvm command starts guest OS without any errors, inside the guest OS, "lsusb" command is
not listing the passthrough device.

Guest OS : SLES11 SP1 64 bit

---uname output---
Linux hostname.in.ibm.com 2.6.32-118.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Tue Feb 22 11:15:55 EST 2011 x86_64 x86_64
x86_64 GNU/Linux

Machine Type = HS22

---Debugger---
A debugger is not configured

---Steps to Reproduce---
 Steps:
   1. Started qemu-kvm command appending "-usb usbdevice host:<vendorid>:<productid>".
  command: /usr/libexec/qemu-kvm -hda ../images/SLES11-SP1-64.raw -m 512 -vnc :9 -usb usbdevice
host:04b3:4010 -net nic -net tap,script=../scripts/qemu-ifup

2. Once the guest is started, logged in to the guest and run "lsusb".
It is not listing the passthrough device.

According to 'Bug 620657 - (unsupported) Unsupported device uses need to be documented in release notes' we do not support USB hotplug. Closing as not a bug.
If you like to ask it as a feature please submit new RFE.
