Description of problem: Fedora 14 -->clicking on the openoffice icon causes a temporary icon to appear for about 30 seconds, then it disappears Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): OOo_3.3.0_Linux_x86_install-rpm-wJRE_en-US.tar.gz How reproducible: Steps to Reproduce: 1.install via http://www.if-not-true-then-false.com/2010/install-openoffice-org-on-fedora-centos-red-hat-rhel/ 2.click on the Fedora apps menu for starting openoffice installed by the procedure in (1) 3.it should open and work well 4. yum update (one entry was for open office) 5. repeat (2) Actual results: temorary icon disappears Expected results: (3) above Additional info:renaming directory user to userXYZ did nothing running setupdid not allow any actions showing "no selection made" my openoffice.org thread: http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=39531&p=181740&hilit=crash#p181740
We do not support the upstream packages. Anyway, from the description I guess that openoffice.org-ure had been updated from Fedora repo. Just add exclude=openoffice.org* to every enabled Fedora repo (/etc/yum.repos.d/fedora*.repo) , remove all openoffice.org packages, install them again from the upstream source and it should be okay.
