Description of problem: When adding a new local printer (HP Officejet 4500) from the control center, auto-discovery works and the printer is added; however, printing anything fails: - printing on a test page silently fails - lpq claims printer is ready, however lpr would say it is not accepting jobs - likewise, the Print dialog from GNOME apps would say printer is not accepting jobs Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): control-center-2.91.92-3.fc15.x86_64 How reproducible: Unknown Steps to Reproduce: 1. add a new printer 2. lpq 3. lpr Actual results: $ lpq Officejet-J4500-series is ready no entries $ lpr file.pdf lpr: Destination "Officejet-J4500-series" is not accepting jobs. Expected results: lpr should work Additional info: system-config-printer / Properties / Policies shows that "Accepting jobs" is unticked. Ticking it and applying allows printing to work. "Accepting" should be default, and it should be toggle-able from control-center's printing capplet.
I see this too. It only happens when adding a queue explicitly from the Printers part of System Settings. If the queue is automatically added it is already configured to accept jobs. $ lpstat -t scheduler is running no system default destination device for PSC-2200-Series: usb://HP/PSC%202200%20Series?serial=MY2CVF42CR0G PSC-2200-Series not accepting requests since Tue 29 Mar 2011 10:42:44 BST - reason unknown printer PSC-2200-Series is idle. enabled since Tue 29 Mar 2011 10:42:44 BST
Hi, I've fixed this upstream. New release with the fix was pushed to Bodhi. The version is control-center-3.0.0.1-1.fc15. Marek
Works here. Thanks.
