Description Tim Waugh 2011-03-29 10:30:25 UTC
Description of problem:
When adding a printer, "Letter" is used for the default page size but I use A4 paper.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
control-center-2.91.93-1.fc15.x86_64
gnome-settings-daemon-2.91.93-1.fc15.x86_64
cups-1.4.6-12.fc15.x86_64

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Plug in a printer for which there is an exact driver match e.g. HP PSC 2210
2.Print something to it using the default settings, e.g. with:
lp /usr/share/cups/data/testprint

Actual results:
Wrong output due to incorrect page size.

Expected results:
Printer should be set up using A4 page size when in an A4-using locale.

Additional info:
In the System Settings application, I have these regional settings:

Region and Language:
  Language: English (United Kingdom)
  Layouts: English (UK)

CUPS will adjust the page size of new queues according to the system locale. My system locale is wrong:

# cat /etc/sysconfig/i18n
LANG="en_US.UTF-8"
SYSFONT="latarcyrheb-sun16"

but there seems to be no way to change it from System Settings.

My own user locale is correct:

$ locale
LANG=en_GB.utf8
LC_CTYPE="en_GB.utf8"
LC_NUMERIC="en_GB.utf8"
LC_TIME="en_GB.utf8"
LC_COLLATE="en_GB.utf8"
LC_MONETARY="en_GB.utf8"
LC_MESSAGES="en_GB.utf8"
LC_PAPER="en_GB.utf8"
LC_NAME="en_GB.utf8"
LC_ADDRESS="en_GB.utf8"
LC_TELEPHONE="en_GB.utf8"
LC_MEASUREMENT="en_GB.utf8"
LC_IDENTIFICATION="en_GB.utf8"
LC_ALL=

Comment 1 Tim Waugh 2011-05-18 12:03:10 UTC
NOT fixed in control-center-3.0.1.1-5.fc15.x86_64.

Happens with both automatic configuration (i.e. plug in printer), and with user interaction (i.e. System Settings -> Printers -> +).

Comment 2 Fedora End Of Life 2012-08-07 19:59:32 UTC
This message is a notice that Fedora 15 is now at end of life. Fedora
has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 15. It is
Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no
longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version'
of '15' have been closed as WONTFIX.

(Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this
occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.)

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen
this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we were unable to fix it before Fedora 15 reached end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
"Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that
version of Fedora.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
