Red Hat Product Errata RHEA-2011:1659 0 normal SHIPPED_LIVE augeas bug fix and enhancement update 2011-12-06 00:50:22 UTC

Description Erinn Looney-Triggs 2011-04-04 22:13:48 UTC
Description of problem:
Failing a rebase of augeas in RHEL 6 (which is what I am really hoping for), this bug needs to be fixed in order to be able to at least see parse errors: https://fedorahosted.org/augeas/ticket/138

Comment 1 Erinn Looney-Triggs 2011-04-04 22:15:55 UTC
Case 00446668 filed with Red Hat support.

Comment 3 RHEL Program Management 2011-04-04 22:23:25 UTC
Since RHEL 6.1 External Beta has begun, and this bug remains
unresolved, it has been rejected as it is not proposed as
exception or blocker.

Red Hat invites you to ask your support representative to
propose this request, if appropriate and relevant, in the
next release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

Comment 4 Erinn Looney-Triggs 2011-04-04 23:03:12 UTC
Right, well I wasn't asking for it to be fixed in 6.1 I was asking for it to be fixed...

-Erinn

Comment 5 David Lutterkort 2011-08-04 17:14:46 UTC
This is fixed by the rebase to augeas-0.9.0 in RHEL 6.2

Comment 8 Jinxin Zheng 2011-09-01 09:19:30 UTC
Reproducing (bad) /etc/fstab file:

--
/dev/mapper/VolGroup00-LVrhel6 /                  ext4    defaults        1 1
UUID=76eb7af2-7681-47a9-b9a6-4a7617cc1e28 /boot   ext3    defaults        1 2
/dev/mapper/VolGroup00-LogVol01 swap              swap    defaults        0 0
tmpfs                   /dev/shm                tmpfs   defaults        0 0
devpts                  /dev/pts                devpts  gid=5,mode=620  0 0
sysfs                   /sys                    sysfs   defaults        0 0
proc                    /proc                   proc    defaults        0 0
blahblah
--

Reproducing steps:
$ augtool
augtool> ls /files/etc/fstab
augtool> ls /augeas/files/etc/fstab

Reproduced on: augeas-0.7.2-4.el6
Cannot find any fstab in /files or /augeas/files

Verified on: augeas-0.9.0-1.el6
Still no fstab in /files, but can see errors in /augeas/files

augtool> ls /augeas/files/etc/fstab
path = /files/etc/fstab
mtime = 1314853418
lens/ = @Fstab
error/ = parse_failed
