Red Hat Product Errata RHEA-2011:1078 0 normal SHIPPED_LIVE new package: subscription-manager 2011-07-21 08:45:07 UTC

Description Chris Duryee 2011-04-05 20:38:42 UTC
Description of problem:

subscription-manager installs a few dbus scripts to allow /etc/libexec/rhsm-complianced to bind to com.redhat.SubscriptionManager. Under certain circumstances, these scripts do not get loaded into dbus.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

0.95.5.3

How reproducible: every time

Steps to Reproduce:
1. ensure subscription-mgr is not installed
2. reboot 5.7 machine
3. install subscription-manager
4. run subscription-manager register

Actual results:
[root@jsefler-onprem-5server ~]# subscription-manager register --username=testuser1 --password=password
55ca6db1-8b5a-4b19-9628-29cebae15f41 jsefler-onprem-5server.usersys.redhat.com
Introspect error: Launch helper exited with unknown return code 1
Launch helper exited with unknown return code 1
[root@jsefler-onprem-5server ~]#

Expected results:

a working registration with no errors. If you restart messagebus or run subscription-manager-gui, everything will magically work.

Comment 1 John Sefler 2011-04-05 20:48:09 UTC
Note: Our nightly automated test suite for subscription-manager RHEL5.7 reveals this bug by nature of the fact that it removes and installs the latest subscription manager rpms. Then upon using the cli tool (registering or unregistering) the "Introspect error" is thrown as shown above.
