Additional info on this ...

This continues to happen

A solution is as follows...

Terminal run

gnome-shell --replace

This may or may not fix it at that time...

If it does not, logout and log back in..

If it is not corrected this time, log out and log back in again and usually that is all it takes..

This is most likely caused by some sort of broken configuration in your account.

Try:

    rm ~/.config/gnome-session/saved-session/*

to get rid of any saved session you might have and see if that fixes it.

Comment 3 VastOne 2011-04-20 20:56:13 UTC
Dan - I will do this at your request. I should have also mentioned above that this is not a constant every boot thing.. I can boot several times in a row and never see it, but then see it 5 times in a row...

I rebooted after removing the config/gnome-session/saved-session/* and the very same thing is going on... I have to log out and back in once or perhaps twice after running gnome-shell --replace

Comment 4 VastOne 2011-04-20 21:07:23 UTC
I am starting to think it is a timing issue.. I am going to reboot 5 times and wait 2 minutes after the login screen appears and then 5 times I will log in immediately .. and will report back

I also saw this smae thing on this machine with both the stock nouveau drivers and the nVidia drivers I have since changed to

Comment 5 VastOne 2011-04-21 00:32:05 UTC
Not a timing issue as I suspected... and now it is happening all the time... I have to run gnome-shell --replace every restart and then log out and back in before I get the shell

I tried deleting the files from saved-sessions, 1, 2 and all and nothing I did made a difference.

Comment 6 VastOne 2011-04-21 00:39:03 UTC
I was actually able to get gnome-shell --replace to run from terminal without logging out and have captured some debug information (I hope)

Comment 8 Fedora End Of Life 2012-08-07 17:38:02 UTC
This message is a notice that Fedora 15 is now at end of life. Fedora
has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 15. It is
Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no
longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version'
of '15' have been closed as WONTFIX.

(Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this
occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.)

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen
this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we were unable to fix it before Fedora 15 reached end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
"Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that
version of Fedora.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
