Red Hat Product Errata RHBA-2011:1513 0 normal SHIPPED_LIVE libvirt bug fix and enhancement update 2011-12-06 01:23:30 UTC

Description weizhang 2011-04-19 12:10:36 UTC
Description of problem:
When do tunnelled migration with --verbose, it does not list the process change during migration, and only list at the end of migration with 100%.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
libvirt-0.8.7-18.el6.x86_64
kernel-2.6.32-131.0.1.el6.x86_64
qemu-kvm-0.12.1.2-2.158.el6.x86_64

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. prepare 2 hosts
2. run #setsebool -P virt_use_nfs 1
on both sides
3. mount nfs on both sides
4. do migration with
virsh migrate --live --p2p --tunnelled vr-rhel6u1-x86_64-kvm qemu+ssh://10.66.82.251/system --verbose

Actual results:
the migration process will not display until migration finished.

Expected results:
the migration process change will display during migration.

Comment 1 Eric Blake 2011-06-10 14:00:18 UTC
I think this upstream commit should do the trick:

commit 1d916a60a7bd7d9fc56503bc526884fc715c04ef
Author: Daniel P. Berrange <berrange>
Date: Mon May 9 16:52:42 2011 +0100

Run tunnelled migration IO in separate thread

By running the doTunnelSendAll code in a separate thread, the
main thread can do qemuMigrationWaitForCompletion as with
normal migration. This in turn ensures that job signals work
correctly and that progress monitoring can be done

    * src/qemu/qemu_migration.c: Run tunnelled migration in
      separate thread

Comment 6 yuping zhang 2011-08-02 07:27:31 UTC
Verified this issue with:

kernel-2.6.32-172.el6.x86_64
qemu-kvm-0.12.1.2-2.172.el6.x86_64
libvirt-0.9.4-0rc2.el6.x86_64

Steps:
1. prepare 2 hosts
2. run #setsebool -P virt_use_nfs 1 on both sides
3. mount nfs on both sides
4. do migration with
# virsh migrate --live --p2p --tunnelled migrate_verbose qemu+ssh://10.66.7.56/system --verbose
Migration: [100 %]

The migration process change display during migration.
So change the status to VERIFIED.
