Created attachment 494627 [details] Crash log. Description of problem: Fist time I install fedora; was using arch before, then ubuntu without a swap partition, so decided that I would create one for fedora. Ubuntu partition was 15GB; decided to split that between 14GB "/" partition and 1GB swap. Clicked modify on the Ubuntu partition, and selected resize. Created the swap partition after that. Reselected the resized, 14GB partition and selected format. Clicked next. Crash. I think the system was confused, because it doesn't allow both resizing and formatting a partition. I guess the preferred path for what I was doing was delete ubuntu the recreate two new partitions. However, the software doesn't prevent you from first setting a partition to be resized, and then setting it to format. The whole thing is pretty confusing actually. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 14 How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Launch a live CD 2. Start installing the system 3. Select custom partitioning 4. You want to split a 15GB ext4 partition in 14GB ext4 and 1GB swap. Select the 15GB partition, click modify, resize it to 14GB. 5. Create the swap partition. 6. Click modify on the 14GB ext4 partition; select format. 7. Proceed with install. Actual results: Crash. Expected results: Correct partitionning. Additional info: Attached the crash report.
The most confusing thing actually is that you're not sure how to tell fedora to format the 14GB ext4. I guess that since the system installs to it, it must format it, but nothing explains it :/ (hope this helps)
Setup package has nothing to do with that report... installer is at least involved, so reassigning to anaconda.
Sorry for mislabelling this report. I wonder how I could have known though; I had been using fedora for approximately a minute when this happened. Surely the crash dump file name could have pointed me to the right part, but I must admit to being a bit confused at first.
Yep, it's hard to find out proper component when new in any system... xo it is still better to report it anywhere, hopefully the assignee will reassign the bugzilla to proper component. Thanks for your report...
This is a bug in action pruning, which should have been resolved in anaconda-15.5-1 (included in Fedora 15). Please reopen this report if find that the problem persists.
