Allways

2. print, select properties and choose landscape, then print.
3. nothing...

Actual results:
no landscape printing

Expected results:
be able to print in landscape

Additional info:
HP laserjet 1020 usb.
Discovered via abrt, since there is no notification of the error.
I have to cancel the job in the kde printer applet.

Comment 1 Reartes Guillermo 2011-04-26 21:38:17 UTC
Tried with libreoffice-write, and prepared a landscape document with 2 colums of text
and in printed correctly.

In the krita, gwenview examples, i was printing pictures, not text.

This is the cmdline from abrt when failed:
/usr/bin/gs -dQUIET -dPARANOIDSAFER -dNOPAUSE -dBATCH -dNOMEDIAATTRS -sDEVICE=cups -sstdout=%stderr -sOutputFile=%stdout -I/usr/share/cups/fonts -c -f -

Please attach:

1. the PPD you are using, from the /etc/cups/ppd/ directory
2. an example file to print from krita or gwenview that fails for you

Thanks.

Second PPD

Additional Info: I was requested to print something, so when executing hp-setup it was unable to locate the firmware from internet (site down?) so after waiting half a day i was forced to copy it from the F13 partition (since i does not show the url to the firmware for manual download).

Comment 6 Tim Waugh 2011-06-02 11:42:45 UTC
Could you please try "Print to File (Postscript)", and then print the resulting file on the command line with "lp -dHP-LaserJet-1020 print.ps", and see if the problem still happens then?

If so, please attach that print.ps file.

I haven't been able to reproduce the issue here unfortunately.

Comment 7 Reartes Guillermo 2011-06-03 15:56:02 UTC
The command works ok.

Additionally, it seems that landscape printing has some issues in kde, see
Bug 181290 (https://bugs.kde.org). At least for pdf i can use LibreOffice.

For images i might do the .ps trick

Additional info: I performed a full F15 release install. This time the hp-setup program was able to download the required plug-in correctly. (so this was tested with the downloaded plug-in)

Versions:

ghostscript-9.02-1.fc15.x86_64
ghostscript-cups-9.02-1.fc15.x86_64
ghostscript-fonts-5.50-24.fc15.noarch

hplip-3.11.5-2.fc15.x86_64
hplip-common-3.11.5-2.fc15.x86_64
hplip-libs-3.11.5-2.fc15.x86_64
hplip-gui-3.11.5-2.fc15.x86_64

Comment 8 Tim Waugh 2011-06-03 16:00:54 UTC
I was hoping Print-To-File would also show the problem, so that I could reproduce it here.

Does printing directly from gwenview still fail after you've reinstalled? Can you please try "Print to File (PDF)", and attach print.pdf if that fails?

Comment 9 Reartes Guillermo 2011-06-03 16:09:31 UTC
Steps to Reproduce:
1. open krita or gwenview (tested with gwenview)
2. print, select properties and choose landscape, then print.

3. now i get the file printed, but in portrait
>> But that is because i think is related to Bug 181290 (https://bugs.kde.org)

So, no, it seems it no longer segfaults, it prints either good or bad.

Comment 10 Tim Waugh 2011-06-06 11:22:59 UTC
OK, perhaps it was fixed by something in the meantime then.
