Description of problem: After setting correct position of dual monitors in display settings (in this case the right monitor is main, left monitor secondary) everything functions normally in the Gnome session. However, upon logout the login screen does not retain these settings. When navigating the login screen, the mouse can then only travel to the left monitor by moving right. The login screen seems to disregard the monitor settings (as regards left to right order) in Nouveau. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible:Using dual monitors log in to gnome. Go to "display" setting. Set right monitor as main, left as secondary by arranging the monitors in the display settings gui. Primary menus should appear on right monitor. I suspect where your problem is. Gnome should start configuring your monitors from left to right, i.e. calling xrandr starting from --pos 0x0. You can try to locate where Gnome keeps these settings and tweak them to that effect (grepping for randr?). I see the same problem in KDE and this is a general idea how I fixed that for me.
I have a similar issue with Fedora 16 Gnome. Dual head (DVI-D) identical monitors. Only the login screen does not turn on head 0 at all, but does try to display the login screen on that head. Head 0 is left Head 1 is right. Configured for auto login with menu system on head 1. At least that way I can get to the system settings so that I can tell gnome to turn on head 0 when logged in. Reboot after setting up dual monitor and head zero goes back to blank (no signal and the monitor will go to sleep). New HP P7-1126s Windows 7 works fine with dual setup.
