Description of problem: I compiled kernel on 32-bit rhel6, but there is no kvm.ko. what if I want to use kvm on 32-bit rhel6. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 2.6.32-71.24.1 How reproducible: comile kernel-2.6.32-71.24.1.el6.src.rpm. can not find kvm.ko in the produced modules. Steps to Reproduce: 1. install kernel-2.6.32-71.24.1.el6.src.rpm 2. rpmbuild -ba kernel.spec 3. find /root/rpmbuild/BUILD/kernel-2.6.32-71.24.1.el6/linux-2.6.32-71.24.1.el6.i686/ -name kvm.ko Actual results: not found kvm.ko Expected results: make kernel produce kvm.ko on 32-bit rhel6 Additional info:

KVM is not supported on i686 in RHEL6. I believe there are only one or two CPU models (some Atom chips) for sale that have support for virtualization, but not 64 bit, and those only support 2GB of memory, which makes them not very useful as virtualization hosts. Everybody else can run x86_64 as their virtualization host. You can build a custom kernel, changing the kernel config options to have a KVM module. This is not officially supported by Red Hat, but will probably work.
