Description of problem: After installing systemd on F14, syslog is flooded by hundreds of gpm debug messages like: May 8 20:33:02 Bellatrix gpm[1253]: *** debug [daemon/selection_copy.c(51)]: ctl 0, mode 3 May 8 20:33:02 Bellatrix gpm[1253]: *** debug [daemon/old_main.c(158)]: selected 1 times May 8 20:33:02 Bellatrix gpm[1253]: *** debug [daemon/getmousedata.c(88)]: Data 08 06 02 (00) May 8 20:33:02 Bellatrix gpm[1253]: *** debug [daemon/processmouse.c(270)]: dx: 1 dy: 0 x: 57 y: 33 butt: 0 vc: 12 clicks: 0 Apparently, the gpm.service unit file passes the '-D' argument to gpm (probably to prevent it from forking off), forcing it into debug mode and making it log every mouse movement. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): systemd-10-2.fc14.1.x86_64 gpm-1.20.6-11.fc14.x86_64

The gpm man page says: -D Do not automatically enter background operation when started, and log messages to the standard error stream, not the syslog mechanism. This is useful for debugging; in previous releases it was done with a compile-time option. Note that it does not mention anything about the increased verbosity of the messages. It is unfortunate if gpm has no separate option to disable forking without increasing the verbosity. It would be nice to have. Anyway, the unit file is shipped by the gpm package itself, not systemd. Reassigning.
This message is a notice that Fedora 14 is now at end of life. Fedora has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 14. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version' of '14' have been closed as WONTFIX. (Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.) Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were unable to fix it before Fedora 14 reached end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on "Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that version of Fedora. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
