The source archive contains a prebuilt man pages and the reference manual. Using them would allow to drop the build time dependency on pandoc and thus support also architectures where the ghc stack is missing.

I suppose that I should probably close this. :-X I've updated the changelog so that instead of the change being made by Dan Horák, it is made by me, but credited to Dan. That seems more correct. I'm currently in the process of updating to 5.0.3 and in the process the patches suggested here will also be included.
