Description David Le Sage 2011-05-09 23:11:52 UTC
Description of problem:
When I try to launch Beacon using Firefox under F15, I am presented with a blank webpage. Both httpd and mysqld are running.

I am not sure if this is related to bz#702569

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
beacon-0.5-4.fc15.noarch
httpd-2.2.17-10.fc15.1.x86_64
mysql-5.5.10-2.fc15.x86_64
firefox-4.0.1-1.fc15.x86_64

How reproducible:
Every time.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. /etc/init.d/httpd start
2. /etc/init.d/mysqld start
3. Launch Firefox and go to http://localhost/beacon/php/

Actual results:
Blank page.

Expected results:
Either Beacon or a relevant error message.

Additional info:
Nothing in httpd error_log

NOTE: I followed the instructions Josh Wulf added as Comment 4 on bz#702569 and nothing happened. I still just get a blank page. :-(

Comment 2 Joshua Wulf 2011-05-10 00:00:18 UTC
Try launching it in Google Chrome, which provides more detailed debugging information. Are you getting and HTTP 500 response from the server? (Firefox hides it from the user)

Comment 3 David Le Sage 2011-05-10 00:14:11 UTC
Thanks for the tip, Josh. I installed Chrome and it is, indeed, a HTTP 500 response error.

Comment 4 Joshua Wulf 2011-05-10 00:19:29 UTC
Do you have php and php-mysql installed?

Comment 5 David Le Sage 2011-05-10 00:25:56 UTC
php-mysql was not installed. If it is required by Beacon, it needs to be made a dependency so that it is pulled down automatically by the "yum install beacon" command.

Unfortunately, I still encounter the error now that it is installed.

Comment 6 Satya Komaragiri 2011-05-23 19:29:58 UTC
Please install beacon from the new RPM attached with bz#702569
(https://bugzilla.redhat.com/attachment.cgi?id=498208.)

Verified on a fresh installation of F15.

Please let me know if the error still persists. Or we could close this bug.

Comment 7 Satya Komaragiri 2011-08-27 05:26:18 UTC
Confirmed on IRC that it worked. Closing bug.
