Description Anatoly Solomin 2011-05-16 21:55:42 UTC
Description of problem:

When I plug Logitech H360 USB headset, it almost never starts working, with one exception: only when it is plugged before starting the machine, and stays plugged while logging in, then while I am in my login session, I can unplug it, and plug back and the system reacts properly, as it should. But if I unplug it and log out, then during my next login session it will never be detected properly. No matter whether I plug it before logging in for the second time, or after.

So the only way to use the Logitech H360 USB headset - to shut down, plug the headset and start the machine again with the headset plugged all the time until my login session is fully started.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
phonon.x86_64 4.5.0-2.fc14 @update

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce non-pluggability:
1.start the machine with Logitech H360 USB headset unplugged
2.start login session with Logitech H360 USB headset unplugged
3.plug Logitech H360 USB headset

Actual results:
Logitech H360 USB headset is not detected properly and cannot be used

Expected results:
Logitech H360 USB headset detected and functions as expected, and in the phonon settings (System settings -> Hardware -> Multimedia -> Phonon) one can change priorities (e.g.notifications direct through the loudspeakers, while communications - via the headset).

Steps to Reproduce lost hot-pluggability:
1.start the machine with Logitech H360 USB headset plugged
2.start login session with Logitech H360 USB headset plugged
3.unplug Logitech H360 USB headset
4.logout
5.login
6. plug the Logitech H360 USB headset

Actual results:
Logitech H360 USB headset is not detected properly and cannot be used

Expected results:
Logitech H360 USB headset detected and functions as expected, and in the phonon settings (System settings -> Hardware -> Multimedia -> Phonon) one can change priorities (e.g. to direct notifications through the loudspeakers, while communications - via the headset.

Additional info:
In the the "lost hot-pluggability" scenario, after step 2., the Logitech H360 USB headset is perfectly "hot-pluggable" till I logout.

Comment 1 Anatoly Solomin 2011-05-16 22:01:24 UTC
On my MacBook Pro, under the Snow Leopard, that very Logitech H360 USB headset is hot-pluggable at any time and functions as expected.

Comment 2 Fedora End Of Life 2012-08-16 13:34:27 UTC
This message is a notice that Fedora 14 is now at end of life. Fedora
has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 14. It is
Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no
longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version'
of '14' have been closed as WONTFIX.

(Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this
occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.)

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen
this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we were unable to fix it before Fedora 14 reached end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
"Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that
version of Fedora.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
