Description of problem: Going through the "Add printer" bit of gnome-control-center. Everything seems to work - I hit the network item, it sees the printer (three times, oddly), and allows me to try to add it. However, it never actually appears - not even briefly - and there's no error dialog. Nothing appears at the cli when manually invoked; I also can't see any problems in the logs. The printer is/should be a network postscript device, so I can't imagine there's a driver issue either.. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): gnome-settings-daemon-3.0.1-4.fc15.x86_64 system-config-printer-udev-1.3.2-2.fc15.x86_64 How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. As above Additional info: $ sudo lpinfo -l -v [snip] Device: uri = dnssd://Alex's%20Office%20Printer._printer._tcp.local/ class = network info = Alex's Office Printer make-and-model = Lexmark Lexmark E120n device-id = MFG:Lexmark;MDL:E120n;FZY:1; location = Device: uri = dnssd://Alex's%20Office%20Printer._ipp._tcp.local/ class = network info = Alex's Office Printer make-and-model = Lexmark Lexmark E120n device-id = MFG:Lexmark;MDL:E120n;FZY:1; location = Device: uri = dnssd://Alex's%20Office%20Printer._pdl-datastream._tcp.local/ class = network info = Alex's Office Printer make-and-model = Lexmark Lexmark E120n device-id = MFG:Lexmark;MDL:E120n;FZY:1; location = (that blank line is in the output, don't know if that makes a difference) The printer is allocated a static IP, I've also tried going by that address and that doesn't seem to make any difference or work either.

I have the exact same problem. The printer is a Brother HL-2170W connected to my router. The printer shows up 3 times in the "Add printer" dialog (see screenshot in previous post). When I choose "Add" nothing happens and I get back to the "Printers" dialog without any printer being installed.

Update for fedora 16 and 17: Now the printer only shows up in 1 entry, and when I choose it, the printer it is added BUT, the wrong driver "generic text-only printer" is chosen (see attached screenshot). This message is a notice that Fedora 15 is now at end of life. Fedora has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 15. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version' of '15' have been closed as WONTFIX. (Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.) Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were unable to fix it before Fedora 15 reached end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on "Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that version of Fedora. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
