Description Martin Zeigler 2011-05-25 00:36:56 UTC
Description of problem: While installing using the Graphical installer, the installer crashes. I am able to verify the install. The installer says the media is valid. When pressing OK, I got a panic and was dropped to a shell and the system locked. I tried several more times, without verifying the disk and got the same results.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Fedora 15

How reproducible: Attempt to install the DVD ISO

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Download the DVD ISO
2.Burn the ISO to a DVD
3.Attempt to install from the new DVD

Actual results: Crash during install

Expected results: Install completes

Additional info: I ran sha256sum after the download and made sure the download image was correct. I also verified the DVD during the install. I have an older Dual Core AMD system, using an NVIDIA 6 series video card. I am currently running Fedora 13. I am attempting to install the X86_64 system.

Moving to anaconda.
Can you attach a screenshot of the panic message?
also, how much RAM does that machine have?

If possible, please attach the logs from /tmp/*log

Photo of kernel panic on the screen

I could not get a screen shot since the computer crashed, so I took a photo, in case this helps.

Comment 4 Martin Zeigler 2011-05-25 23:16:03 UTC
My machine has a total of 4GB of physical RAM, but the main board only recognizes 3.5GB of it.

Listing of /tmp

I did not find any log files in the /tmp directory after I rebooted back to Fedora 13. I attached a screen shot of what I have there.

Second crash

I kept trying and I was able to get a little further. I was configuring the file systems when I got this kernel panic. Attaching second screen shot in case it adds something to this.

This was a hardware bug on my system. Replaced defective part and F15 installs and works fine now. Please close this issue.
