Description Justin Noah 2011-05-26 05:28:05 UTC
Twisted 11.0 has been out for a while, can python-twisted be updated?

Comment 1 Julian Sikorski 2011-05-26 06:29:31 UTC
Is there any particular reason you would like to see this update in Fedora 15? 11.0 is in rawhide.

Comment 2 Justin Noah 2011-05-26 06:32:44 UTC
https://github.com/MostAwesomeDude/bravo is why I'd like 11.0, if possible.

Comment 3 Stefan Schulze Frielinghaus 2011-06-12 21:17:09 UTC
Release 11.0 fixes a problem for me. I tried the SRPMs from rawhide and the service pyicq-t works again. The problem is also documented upstream: http://code.google.com/p/pyicqt/issues/detail?id=211

These are the packages which depend on twisted stack. While I might try to backport the fix for the issue Stefan is seeing, I am rather reluctant to update the whole stack. Justin, does pulling the packages from rawhide work?

Comment 5 Julian Sikorski 2011-06-14 22:03:42 UTC
Upstream bug for the api break:
http://twistedmatrix.com/trac/ticket/4798

Comment 6 Justin Noah 2011-06-14 22:23:29 UTC
Yes, I was able to pull from rawhide and have twisted 11.0.0. This may not be much help, but a little usually doesn't hurt: I am co-maintainer of deluge and also just verified that twisted 11 does not break the latest release, 1.3.2 (Though this was a simple, run the gtk app, test daemon connection, conclude deluge works).

I'd be willing to help test packages and communicate with their respective upstream developers to help get 11.0.0 into Fedora 15, if you would like.

Comment 7 Julian Sikorski 2011-06-14 22:35:21 UTC
I can provide packages using fedorapeople repos to facilitate this testing later this week.

Comment 8 Fedora End Of Life 2012-08-06 20:08:34 UTC
This message is a notice that Fedora 15 is now at end of life. Fedora
has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 15. It is
Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no
longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version'
of '15' have been closed as WONTFIX.

(Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this
occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.)

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen
this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we were unable to fix it before Fedora 15 reached end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
"Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that
version of Fedora.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
