It is weird ... I don't see any crash in /var/log/Xorg.0.log, the last line is [ 51644.613] (II) v4l: /dev/video0 open ok My suspicion would be that it could be a crash in the kernel itself. Would you be able to switch to the console with Ctrl-Alt-F2? If so could we get output of the command dmesg attached to this bug as well, please? Also, could you please attach /var/log/messages? It could contain a lot of interesting information as well. Thank you

OK, I think this is clear: [47320.794318] lircd[20566]: segfault at 0 ip 00007ffff5c29a30 sp 00007fffffffd8d0 error 4 in libusb-1.0.so.0.0.0[7ffff5c24000+d000] Reassigning to libusb1 component.
That reassignment does not make sense. The libusb crashes were caused by me porting my lirc driver from libusb-0 to libusb-1. I can't see how this is related to v4l.
