Created attachment 501751 [details] Output in /var/log/messages when GDM crashes Description of problem: After installing Fedora via a kickstart file, at first boot only, when trying to connect with a NIS user (by choosing 'Other' entry and typing your NIS login), GDM freezes. You can kill it by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Backspace. At this point, there is a strace entry in /var/log/messages (see attachment). After killing it, you can connect with a NIS user but gdm-simple-greeter process take 100% of the CPU. Note that it doesn't happen with a local user. After a reboot, everything works fine. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): gdm-3.0.0-3.fc15.i686 How reproducible: Install Fedora 15. When GDM comes up, choose 'Other' entry. Type your NIS login. Then, when the password field appears, GDM crashes and the only way to escape is pressing Ctrl+Alt+Backspace. Actual results: GDM freezes when trying to enter your password/ Expected results: You should be able to login with a NIS user at first boot.
In fact, the crash appears each time a new NIS login is entered. Once the login has been "cached", GDM works as excepected.
