Description Onyeibo Oku 2011-05-30 09:45:57 UTC
Description of problem:
1. After login from GDM I get an 'unhappy' computer-icon ('Oh no! Something went wrong'). I get a log-out button. Clicking the 'logout' button momentarily displays the desktop with notification that gnome-settings-daemon had crashed. The session then exits back to GDM.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
gnome-settings-daemon-3.0.1-4.fc15.x86_64

How reproducible:
fairly consistent on this particular machine. It sometimes passes and loads the user account/session but does not render the desktop background

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install Fedora 15 and update
2. After booting to GDM try logging in with password
3. You should be experiencing it afterwards (in my case)

Actual results:
I don't get a desktop or when I do, I don't have a desktop-background

Expected results:
A desktop with the background and no crashes

Bastien,

I have a similar behaviour with F16, but no window visible about any error.

My machine is x86_64 with F16 upgraded from F15 stable using the fedora-release method...

On second try, it always work.

I've recorded a video with the behaviour while pressing several times the 'win' key to show that everything seems to be ok, even I can browse and launch apps, but as soon as I close the 'activities', the sad computer appears again until I logoff.

Please, let me know hen I can delete it.

Regards
Pablo

Comment 3 Fedora End Of Life 2012-08-06 19:57:57 UTC
This message is a notice that Fedora 15 is now at end of life. Fedora
has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 15. It is
Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no
longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version'
of '15' have been closed as WONTFIX.

(Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this
occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.)

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen
this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we were unable to fix it before Fedora 15 reached end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
"Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that
version of Fedora.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
