Description kahenya 2011-05-30 21:18:37 UTC
Description of problem:
I've been struggling with the Network Manager, and temporarily used wvdial till this afternoon when Network Manager started working on its own volition. When I use eth0 (ethernet), Yum seemed to work fine. When I used wlan0 (Wireless), it worked well, but it does not seem to be working at all with ppp0 (Mobile Broadband). Initially I thought it was the "Check for updates using mobile broadband" setting on Software Update Preferences, but even after checking that, did not work. When I try do a manual Yum, this is what I get

[root@localhost Downloads]# yum update
Loaded plugins: langpacks, presto, refresh-packagekit

Now, wget seems to be working fine, but curl is not. I'm not even sure where to start.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

yum-3.2.29-5.fc15.noarch at 2011-05-26 16:20

How reproducible:
Unsure, for me, the issue came while using wvdial and NetworkManager. Trying to update or add software and I get this error.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Login to Fedora
2. Connect Network (Via Mobile Broadband)
3. Open a terminal and type "yum update"

Actual results:
Yum does not connect, faults curl.

Expected results:
Update/Software Install

Found the issue.

I had set up proxy in the yum.conf file and completely forgotten about it.

Solved.
