Description Gerald Britton 2011-06-01 13:34:22 UTC
Description of problem:

Firefox opening of SSL sites with self-signed certificates fails with a bizzare "The URL is invalid and cannot be loaded." error.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

firefox-4.0.1-2.fc15.x86_64
nss-3.12.10-1.fc15.x86_64

How reproducible:

Always.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Visit https://www.cacert.org/ (or another self-signed cert site)
2.
3.

Actual results:
"The URL is invalid and cannot be loaded."

Expected results:
Untrusted site/add exception dialog should be displayed.

Additional info:

This upstream bug appears related, but seems to claim it's a distro bug: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=624353

I was unable to re-create this bug on F15-x86_64 and firefox and nss versions listed when attempted 2011-06-19.

Curiously I just found that the firefox package was missing:
/usr/lib64/firefox-4/components
/usr/lib64/firefox-4/extensions
/usr/lib64/firefox-4/langpacks

I suspect they didn't survive the upgrade from Fedora 14 which I believe
had firefox and firefox4 packages installed.

After reinstalling the firefox package, my problem has gone away.
