Description of problem: Fedora 14 will boot up and after typing in the encryption password the screen will get messed up displays the Fedora logo. At time I will get a black screen and be unable to login. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: Steps to Reproduce: 1.Turn on computer 2.Enter encryption password 3. Actual results: The screen will flash between the loading screen and the display of the mouse in the center of the screen after running nomodeset in the boot up line. If there are any other commands I can use to try to get the software to update with the hardware I have in the computer that would be very helpful. Expected results: Some how have a functioning operating system that I can update cause I very much enjoy your Linux platform just need help getting around this issue. Additional info:
what graphics hardware is in this machine ? (it might also be interesting to know if f15 has the same problem).
I was trying to update the computer to f15 and I had some issues with the computer I have. The cd doesn't boot and I get a report of no operating system. I'm thinking about putting the cd on my spare hard drive and using a boot cd to make it boot from the external hard drive. Right now all I can do is take the hard drive out and run the system on a different computer to make it work.
Did you ever get f15 installed or are you still having issues?
This message is a notice that Fedora 14 is now at end of life. Fedora has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 14. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version' of '14' have been closed as WONTFIX. (Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.) Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were unable to fix it before Fedora 14 reached end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on "Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that version of Fedora. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
