Description of problem: The snmp__if_err_ plugin in Munin 1.4.5 may fail to retrieve SNMP values from a Cisco firewall (and probably other devices), yielding numerous lines like this in /var/log/munin/munin-node.log: 2011/06/10-00:00:08 [30847] Error output from snmp_sst-asa.sst.dk_if_err_7: 2011/06/10-00:00:08 [30847] Argument "noSuchObject" isn't numeric in addition (+) at /etc/munin/plugins/snmp_sst-asa.sst.dk_if_err_7 line 165. The problem is due to a rather surprising way which Perl's SNMP module deals with certain edge cases. In the upstream code for Munin's 1.4 branch, a fix has gone in: http://munin-monitoring.org/changeset/3868/branches/1.4-stable/plugins/lib/Munin/Plugin/SNMP.pm However, no new Munin 1.4 versions have been released since 1.4.5, at this point, unfortunately. I suggest that the particular change be incorporated in EPELs Munin 1.4.5 package. I have tried it, and it works.
Created attachment 503998 [details] Suggested fix, to be used with "patch -p1"
Created attachment 503999 [details] Updated munin.spec for EPEL 6 which uses the proposed patch; tested on RHEL 6.1
