Description of problem: FC14 worked just fine. I did an upgrade and FC15 died when it tried to reboot. I was left with nothing so I downloaded and verified the DVD, and tried a rescue. That started OK but died in just the same manner. I did a full install and all was well until the reboot. I tried a rescue and got the familiar black screen. The non-GUI logins didn't work either. I re-installed FC14 and it worked as before Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): n/a How reproducible: Very Steps to Reproduce: 1.Install FC15 x86_64 on an emachines laptop 2. 3. Actual results: Does not boot after install. Expected results: Should boot after install. Additional info:
There isn't much to go on in this bug report. How did it die? Did the kernel panic? Was there a backtrace? We can't respin the release media, so testing on the upcoming F16 Beta release would be the best bet.
Created attachment 533173 [details] dmesg I can confirm this bug on the E-machines E525 laptop with both F15 and F16 LiveCDs. If I run Fedora 16 LiveCD and choose Default boot option I get the black screen immediately. From "Basic video driver" option in boots well. Workaround: If I add acpi_osi=Linuх to kernel parameters and then boot, I can turn on the backlight using Fn + _DEcrease_the_backlight_ button. Additional info: BIOS is updated to the last available version. I've attached /var/log/messages, dmesg output and Xorg.0.log from LiveCd.

> I can confirm this bug on the E-machines E525 laptop with both F15 and F16 > LiveCDs. I don't think the original bug applies to FC16. I could not install FC15 at all. (Nor could I get any crash or debugging info from it - there was no output just a blank screen.) I have been able to install FC16. There are problems but I will file a report for them if it has not already been done.
