Description Gary Morris 2011-06-17 21:17:18 UTC
abrt version: 1.1.18
architecture: i686
Attached file: backtrace, 19595 bytes
cmdline: rss-glx-solarwinds -r
comment: I have had similar things happen, but not quite like this. We had switched users for a minute, then switched back. It took the login, then the screensaver came up but wasn't moving. I waited for a while to see if anything would change, it did not. So, I went to a terminal and loaded top, where the application was hung at 95% CPU usage. It never budged, so I killed it. Once I did that, I was able to get back to X with no problem (so far!).
component: rss-glx
crash_function: _XReply
executable: /usr/bin/rss-glx-solarwinds
kernel: 2.6.35.13-92.fc14.i686
package: rss-glx-0.9.1.p-4.fc14.1
rating: 4
reason: Process /usr/bin/rss-glx-solarwinds was killed by signal 7 (SIGBUS)
release: Fedora release 14 (Laughlin)
time: 1308344893
uid: 503

How to reproduce
-----

2. Switched back
3. Screen saver froze

Comment 2 Nils Philippsen 2011-06-20 15:49:58 UTC
Hmm, the backtrace is missing some information that may be necessary to debug this:

--- 8< ---
warning: core file may not match specified executable file.
[New Thread 8636]
warning: File "/var/cache/abrt-di/usr/lib/debug/usr/lib/libX11.so.6.3.0.debug" has a different build-id, file skipped
warning: the debug information found in "/var/cache/abrt-di/usr/lib/debug//usr/lib/libX11.so.6.3.0.debug" does not match "/usr/lib/libX11.so.6" (CRC mismatch).

warning: the debug information found in "/var/cache/abrt-di/usr/lib/debug/usr/lib/libX11.so.6.3.0.debug" does not match "/usr/lib/libX11.so.6" (CRC mismatch).
--- >8 ---

Other than that, the SIGBUS happens in XInitExtension() -> XQueryExtension() -> _XReply() and I don't see how rss-glx-* could contribute to it here. Changing component to libX11.

Comment 3 Fedora End Of Life 2012-08-16 15:45:48 UTC
This message is a notice that Fedora 14 is now at end of life. Fedora
has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 14. It is
Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no
longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version'
of '14' have been closed as WONTFIX.

(Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this
occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.)

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen
this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we were unable to fix it before Fedora 14 reached end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
"Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that
version of Fedora.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
