Description of problem: gedit is the current default on my F15 system for opening text files. If I change this to be Emacs, the change only persists for the current session. Upon reboot, gedit is back to being the default file associated with my text files. In nautilus, right click on a file and select properties 2. Select the open with tab 3. Select Emacs (or another text editor) from the list of Recommended Applications 4. Click Set as default 5. Verify that Emacs is now the default 6. Reboot 7. Login to gnome-shell 8. Open nautilus 9. Double click on the file you altered the properties of earlier Actual results: The previous, old, default application opens the file Expected results: The application set as the new default should open the file. I have noticed the same issue with setting the default browser. When I set Chrome as the default browser, it stays that way but once I restart the system, it goes back to being Firefox.
