Output from echo w > /proc/sysrq-trigger

Description of problem:
qemu-kvm guest (Fedora 15/x86_64) will get stuck at some point while doing io. Guest fails to shutdown properly. As a result host will have zombie qemu-kvm process with high cpu usage. Also one kernel flush thread keeps consuming cpu.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
kernel-2.6.38.8-32.fc15.x86_64
qemu-kvm-0.14.0-7.fc15.x86_64

How reproducible:
Not sure.
One time hanged while installing grub during f15 install process.
Second time hanged while tried to open a luks volume on guest vm.

Steps to Reproduce:
NA

Actual results:
One zombie qemu-kvm process with high cpu usage and one kernel thread with high cpu usage.

Expected results:
Zero zombie processes.

Please don't attach gzipped files unless they are extremely large, it just means someone has to expand them.

I am also facing the same issue. I am running WindowsXP guest on Fedora 15 host. WinXP guest freezes after some time and killing the kvm process makes it a zombie with significant (>80%) cpu usage.

I have to restart the machine to get rid of it.

Is this still a problem?

Comment 4 Josh Boyer 2012-07-11 17:48:46 UTC
Fedora 15 has reached it's end of life as of June 26, 2012. As a result, we will not be fixing any remaining bugs found in Fedora 15.

In the event that you have upgraded to a newer release and the bug you reported is still present, please reopen the bug and set the version field to the newest release you have encountered the issue with. Before doing so, please ensure you are testing the latest kernel update in that release and attach any new and relevant information you may have gathered.

Thank you for taking the time to file a report. We hope newer versions of Fedora suit your needs.
