RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Red Hat Product Errata RHBA-2011:1642 0 normal SHIPPED_LIVE virt-manager bug fix and enhancement update 2011-12-06 00:50:37 UTC

Description Marian Krcmarik 2011-06-28 17:37:28 UTC
Description of problem:
I have a guest specified using libvirt (see libvirt xml in attachment) with video type qxl (-vga qxl) and graphic vnc (-vnc 127.0.0.1:0). Then booting the guest and opening the guest's display in VNC client. Entering client's screen with mouse for first time I can see cursor, then leaving the client window and returning back and cursor disappears (It's possible to click) till I reconnect with client.
It doesn't not happen with vga/cirrus.
It does happen on Windows or RHEL guest that's why I think It's problem of device and not driver itself.
It does happen with different VNC clients (vinagre, TigerVNC).

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
qemu-kvm-0.12.1.2-2.160
Guest: RHEL6.1 (xorg-x11-drv-qxl-0.0.12-9), WinXP

How reproducible:
always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run guest qith libvirt with set vnc and qxl device (make sure qxl is used).
2. Connect to the guest with vnc client.
3. Enter client window with cursor, leave the window and enter again.

Actual results:.
Cursor disappears

Expected results:
Cursor is visible.

Additional info:
If this combination is not supported, pls say so and bug for virt-manager which would ask for disabling such combination should be filed.

Comment 2 Dor Laor 2011-07-07 13:38:35 UTC
It's not supported in kvm for the time being and should be disabled by virt manager. Moving to virt-manager

Comment 4 Cole Robinson 2011-07-28 15:29:03 UTC
Fixed in virt-manager-0.9.0-2.el6

Comment 7 zhe peng 2011-08-09 02:25:07 UTC
test with:
virt-manager-0.9.0-5.el6
qemu-kvm-0.12.1.2-2.172.el6
libvirt-0.9.4-1.el6

virt-manager list QXL video option when VM has VNC video,and the guest can start

#cat test.xml
....
   <graphics type='vnc' port='-1' autoport='yes'/>
    <sound model='ich6'>
      <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x04' function='0x0'/>
    </sound>
    <video>
      <model type='qxl' vram='65536' heads='1'/>
      <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x02' function='0x0'/>
    </video>
....
the behavior same with the bug ,cursor disappears

the bug not fixed,move to assigned.

Comment 8 Cole Robinson 2011-08-29 15:13:51 UTC
This is a just a spec file issue, fixed upstream:

Comment 9 Cole Robinson 2011-08-30 19:38:10 UTC
Fixed in virt-manager-0.9.0-6.el6

Comment 10 Min Zhan 2011-09-01 03:33:09 UTC
Verified PASS with below environment:
# uname -r
2.6.32-191.el6.x86_64
qemu-kvm-0.12.1.2-2.184.el6.x86_64
libvirt-0.9.4-6.el6.x86_64
virt-manager-0.9.0-6.el6.x86_64
python-virtinst-0.600.0-3.el6.noarch

Steps:
1. Launch virt-manager, select a health guest with VNC display, found the video option has no qxl.
2. Launch virt-manager, select a health guest with SPICE display, found qxl would be listed in video option. Also guest can work well with SPICE+qxl.

-----------
I can reproduce this bug with virt-manager-0.9.0-5.el6.x86_64.
