Description of problem: No description available on how to set up networking without gui, tui. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Fedora 15 How reproducible: Allways Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install Fedora 15 from scratch on a machine where no graphics are available add to the kernel command line "text". Now install is possible. 2. Install Fedora 15. You'll never be asked for network setup. 3. After install finishes there is no network available. Actual results: No network available, no tools to set up networking, no description how to set up networking, no description of changes from Fedora 14 to 15. Expected results: Network available, tools to set up networking available (if network card recognized). Description available on how to do it without gui or tui. Additional info: No helpful information on the Internet either. The fedora project website just has a howto on seting up networking with gui.
Thanks for reporting this, Thomas. For the Fedora 16 version of the guide, I've added a paragraph to the end of section 9.1 to alert users to options not available in text mode, with specific reference to network configuration. The para then links to section 11.1 with the commands for this and other boot options. The draft can be read at http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/Fedora_Draft_Documentation/0.1/html/Installation_Guide/ch-guimode-x86.html#id938367 Cheers, Jack
Removing myself for these bug components as I'm either no longer involved in that aspect of the project, or no longer care to watch this particular bug. Sorry if you are caught in a maelstrom of bug changes as a result!
