Description of problem: Before I installed my system (the first time) I checked the documentation and it said that "The N and Z Series Atom processors are based on the i386 architecture." so I used the i386 version of Fedora. Once loaded I learned of the lshw program. When I ran this on my Atom N550 it returned saying that it was capable of x86_64 and was a 64bit CPU. Upon seeing this I have now re-installed using the x86_64 architecture and the system is running fine. Whether the statement in the documentation was true in the past, I do not know, but it appears that it is now true any more. Additional info: Section that is affected is specifically 2.1.2. Which Architecture Is My Computer?
*not true any more.
This can be verified from the following URL on the intel website. http://ark.intel.com/products/50154/Intel-Atom-Processor-N550-%281M-Cache-1_50-GHz%29 Also the link to part of the intel website on this document page is broken.
Hi Ian, Thanks for pointing this out. I've taken a look at the N and Z Series Atom processors on the Intel site and confirmed that most of the N-Series is now 64-bit. I've updated the Architecture table (2.1) and the accompanying note for the Fedora 16 version of the guide to reflect this. The draft version of the guide can be found at http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/Fedora_Draft_Documentation/0.1/html/Installation_Guide/index.html Cheers, Jack
Hi Jack, The draft version looks good. Thanks for making the changes Ian
Removing myself for these bug components as I'm either no longer involved in that aspect of the project, or no longer care to watch this particular bug. Sorry if you are caught in a maelstrom of bug changes as a result!
