Affects: Documentation (Ref Guide, User Guide, etc.) Date of First Response: 2010-04-19 03:17:14 securitylevel_name: Public The installation information in the BRMS user guide (http://www.redhat.com/docs/en-US/JBoss_Enterprise_BRMS_Platform/5.0.1/html-single/BRMS_Userguide/index.html#sect-installation) is complete and correct, but it does not include a minimal or "short-cut" path to getting BRMS up and running with the minimal number of steps. This path could be used by customers performing demos or exploratory testing and would not be intended for production environments as it would support logins, but not authentication through an LDAP server or other authentication utilities. The steps that we should cover are: a) The user needs EAP 4.3 - and not EAP 5.0 or SOA-P 5.0 (this is even more important since the release of EAP and SOA-P 5 b) The user needs to unzip the war, drop into deploy and use the "production" config of EAP 4.3 c) The user needs to uncomment admin=admin in the server's jboss-as/server/production/conf/props/jmx-console-users.properties
Link: Added: This issue is a dependency of BRMS-285
- added a "Quick Install" note describing the difference in procedure for this method immediately before the installation procedure. - added 4.3 to all EAP references. - added clarification regarding only supporting the "production" server profile I also streamlined the installation procedure a little, removing some unnecessary information to make it clearer.
Found the note - it looks good - one change to the wording is needed: NOTE: Quick Installation The JBoss Enterprise BRMS Platform WAR file can be quickly deployed with no configuration. This is only suitable for development and demonstration scenarios. To do this, skip three of the installation procedure and enable one or more users in jboss-as/server/production/conf/props/jmx-console-users.properties. This should read: "skip step 3"
