Description Dana Mison 2010-08-31 01:02:30 UTC
Affects: Documentation (Ref Guide, User Guide, etc.)
securitylevel_name: Public

Documentation is required to cover the new supported deployment scenarios for BRMS 5.1.

This will be documented in the BRMS Administrator Guide

The configuration step of each procedure should refer to the sections for Repository, Database and Authentication configuration.

Information is required for the following combinations:

Deploying the BRMS web-app:

BRMS 5.1 + EWP 5.0 bundle
 * is considered the default deployment option for release 5.1
 * steps are probably: unzip, configure DB & Authentication ?

BRMS 5.1 -> SOA 5.0.x
BRMS 5.1 -> EWP 5.0
BRMS 5.1 -> EAP 5.0
BRMS 5.0 -> EAP 4.3 (what was already documented - the only option for 5.0.X)
 * these should all be pretty much the same. Possibly just update the preface to the current instructions to clarify the combinations it applies to.

BRMS 5.1 -> EWS 1.1
 * I have no idea what will be involved here, just a tomcat deploy & configure ? I assume that authentication configuration be different for tomcat ?

Also deploying the BRE is supported:

BRE->EAP 5.0.x
BRE->SOA 5.0.x
 * I have no idea what will be involved here. Are we just copying JAR files into server/PROFILE/lib ? Are there any issues with jbrules.esb in SOA ?

Comment 1 Dana Mison 2010-08-31 01:12:28 UTC
questions:
1 - Are these all the supported scenarios for BRMS 5.x ?
2 - what configuration will be provided out of the box in the EWP bundle ?
3 - how will deployment & configuration differ for tomcat in EWS ?
4 - what will be involved with BRE deployment ? Also what is it? And what is it for ?

Hi, it was suggested that you were the best person to assign this to.

I realize a lot of this stuff won't be finalized for a while but any clarification on these points in the meantime will help us get started documenting process. Or even further questions on those items that are uncertain can be helpful.

We just need enough info to get started with being able to go through the processes ourselves to document them.

Darrin, afaik the build for brms 5.1 wont be ready until next week. Until then I will start testing this with Drools 5.1. Just FYI.

Comment 4 Tihomir Surdilovic 2010-09-29 14:03:03 UTC
Testing on EWS 1.1 and SOA 5.0.x . Other configurations should be standard as you mentioned.

Darrin / David,
Please make sure these things are clearly documented for users in the installation notes.
For instance, someone using deployables.zip on EWS, how they configure users etc... same for EAP, SOA-P...
