Created attachment 525226 [details] Screenshot windows not appearing on second desktop. Description of problem: When enabling desktop effects with KDE, applications are not displayed on the second monitor. I can move my mouse over to the second monitor, and see the mouse on the second monitor, but any window I drag over there is effectively not displayed. However when dragging my mouse over the invisible window on the second monitor, KDE/X11 knows it is there as my mouse changes shape accordingly (e.g., to resize the the window if need be, etc). This is only an issue if I enable desktop effects with nouveau. If I leave desktop effects disabled, this isn't an issue. Additionally, if I switch to the proprietary nvidia driver and enable desktop effects, this also isn't an issue. So this issue appears to be exclusively between nouveau <--> KDE (w/ desktop effects enabled. I only enabled the "default" desktop effects. That is, I only checked the "Enable desktop effects" checkbox, from System Settings. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): xorg-x11-drv-nouveau-0.0.16-24.20110324git8378443.fc15.x86_64 kdebase-4.6.5-2.fc15.x86_64 How reproducible: always. I tried disabling, and re-enabling, rebooting. It consistently happened. Steps to Reproduce: nouveau + KDE + "Desktop Effects" enabled Actual results: windows are not displayed on second monitor Expected results: windows are displayed on second monitor Additional info: Hardware: http://www.smolts.org/client/show/pub_05b04b78-940b-486a-aab9-28394729f2cb I attached screenshot demonstrating the issue.
OK, I guess scratch the "always" part under "how reproducible". I just switched back the nouveau driver, forgetting that I left desktop effects enabled before rebooting (after I removed the nvidia driver and nuked the xorg.conf), and now everything is working beautifully. If/when this bug should rear its head again, what debug info do you need?
Very odd. Hopefully this won't come back :) I'll close this for now. If this reoccurs, could you please attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log, and the output of running the "dmesg" command to this bug. Thanks again!
