Description David Tardon 2011-09-30 06:12:16 UTC
Description of problem:
abrt 2.0 includes a fair amount of information in the reported bugs (which is praiseworthy), but it puts it all into one bz comment. IMHO that is okay for less-often-needed pieces of information, like dso_list, but at least user's comment (and backtrace too, but there is already bug 712602 addressing that) should always be placed into a separate bz comment, in order to make it more visible to the bug triager. E.g., look at bug 738111, where user's comment is practically lost between hundreds of lines' long listing of build_ids and equally long dso_list.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
abrt-2.0.3-x.fc15 (the already mentioned bug 738111 contains abrt version: 2.0.3)

How reproducible:
happened at least once

Steps to Reproduce:
1. just let abrt report a new bug

Comment 1 Fedora End Of Life 2012-08-07 17:30:55 UTC
This message is a notice that Fedora 15 is now at end of life. Fedora
has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 15. It is
Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no
longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version'
of '15' have been closed as WONTFIX.

(Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this
occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.)

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen
this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we were unable to fix it before Fedora 15 reached end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
"Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that
version of Fedora.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping

Comment 2 David Tardon 2012-08-08 04:22:32 UTC
The problem is still there.

Comment 3 Jiri Moskovcak 2012-08-28 08:07:32 UTC
I believe that this is already fixed in the latest update.

Comment 4 Jakub Filak 2012-08-29 09:30:35 UTC
The latest update of abrt/libreport comes with improved formatting of bugzilla reports. Bugs reports will be formatted according to the default bugzilla template. The main improvement is that the amount of information is reduced to a minimum in comment 0 (less-often-needed pieces of information are attached). Therefore, it is not necessary to put user's comment into a separate bz comment.

Comment 5 Jiri Moskovcak 2012-12-20 11:55:33 UTC
I believe that this issue has been already fixed (since abrt-2.0.19)
