Description of problem: Logging into kde on F16 I get a lot of these in /var/log/messages: Oct 4 10:02:13 athena dbus-daemon[630]: ** (udisks-daemon:1638): WARNING **: Property get or set does not have an interface string as first arg root 1638 1 0 10:01 ? 00:00:00 /usr/libexec/udisks-daemon root 1640 1638 0 10:01 ? 00:00:00 udisks-daemon: not polling any devices Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): udisks-1.0.4-1.fc16.i686
These are coming at the rate of about 6-7 per second on my desktop.

So, can we trace the dbus messages somehow to figure out what is not calling udisks properly?
This problem maybe not udisks related because there are other WARNING and DEBUG messages by dbus-daemon (see bug 743779 ) so this there can be something in dbus-daemon that forcec it to show WARNING and DEBUG messages.
Someone should decide is this bug in udisks, upowerd, polkitd or in dbud-daemon.
Is this related?: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=281812
Hi, For me the messages only show up when running KDE, not Gnome3. So it seems to me that it's not a dbus/udisks issue. As suggested in the kde-report for some 4.7.2 solved the issue, for me it didn't. Martin Kho
Yes, the problem is that KDE is not using the D-Bus interface correctly (by omitting the interface name). The warning, btw, stems from the dbus-glib packages but that's not the point - KDE should use the interface correctly. (Well, the more fundamental problem is that the systemd guys decided to just redirect stdout/stderr of udisks (and everything else) to the system logger. Which is just super annoying.)
Thanks, triaged.
will give this one to lukas (resident solid hero)
Btw, I've added a patch to neuter this behavior since the regular debug output (in addition to the warning generated by KDE's usage cf comment 8) is annoying. There are packages here http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=3440935 for that.

What about upowerd and polkitd?
(In reply to comment #13) > What about upowerd and polkitd? I will create similar patches for polkit. For upower, you need to grab Richard Hughes (or other maintainer).
