Description Igor 2011-10-06 08:07:11 UTC
Description of problem:

After yum upgrade from F15 to F16 and /sbin/grub-install system can't be booted after reboot. Was getting "ERROR 18".

Fix was to Rescue boot to the system, remove grub, install grub2, run grub2-mkconfig and grub2-install

well, with a current f15 to f16 yum upgrade you won't be able to run grub-install, because grub is removed. you only have grub-efi and grub2.

can you re-test with the affected system and see if it boots after upgrade if you *don't* run grub-install?

Adam,

Thank you for addressing this issue -- I don't have anymore f15 around to try yum upgrade.

okay, let's close this as missing data then.
