Hide Forgot
Description of problem: ThinkPad X201 with Fingerprint reader (enabled in BIOS, but not setup in Linux) With the latest updates (F16beta was fine), I can no longer login when the fingerprint reader is enabled in the BIOS. I can select the user in GDM, and type the password but enter is not accepted and neither is the login button. The Workaround is to disable the fingerprint reader in the BIOS. In /var/log/messages I see the following type of messages; dbus-daemon[2366]: ** (polkitd:2459): DEBUG: checking whether system-bus-name::1.26 is authorized for net.reactivated.fprint.device. setusername Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): gdm-plugin-fingerprint-3.2.0-2.fc16.x86_64 gdm-3.2.0-2.fc16.x86_64 gnome-shell-3.2.0-2.fc16.x86_64 fprintd-pam-0.2.0-3.fc15.x86_64 fprintd-0.2.0-3.fc15.x86_64 libfprint-0.3.0-2.fc15.x86_64 polkit-desktop-policy-0.102-1.fc16.noarch polkit-0.102-1.fc16.x86_64 polkit-gnome-0.103-1.fc16.x86_64 How reproducible: Each time Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install F16beta on ThinkPad with supported fingerprint reader 2. Update to latest packages 3. reboot 4. unable to login as described above 5. reboot to BIOS setup 6. disable fingerprint reader 7. boot to Fedora 8. This has nothing to do with polkit.
