Expected results: /usr/include/xercesc/config.status Additional info:
I'm not sure if I can follow your report: So, you're on CentOS 6 and trying to re-build perl-XML-Xerces, right? As far as I can see, perl-XML-Xerces requires version 2.7 of xerces-c, which is a separate package in Fedora, called xerces-c27. There is no such package in RHEL 6. RHEL 6 only ships xerces-c, which is version 3. You therefore install xerces-c from RHEL 5, which I don't consider a good idea, because RHEL 6 has a package with the same name but a newer version. xerces-c from RHEL is not an EPEL package, but a package from RHEL. The only reason there is a xerces-c package from EPEL for RHEL 6, is, there is no ppc build for some reason. So the situation is: - No xerces-c27 in RHEL 6: No support from RHEL - No xerces-c27 in EPEL 6: No package, no maintainer - xerces-c in RHEL 5 is 2.7: The package should build there, looking at the version of xerces-c. Feel free to open a bug against RHEL 5. I recommend you to rebuild xerces-c27 from Fedora on your system and look if it builds with that: http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=218711 It doesn't ship config.status, but you can obviously build perl-XML-Xerces with it -- see http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=225636 As this is neither a bug with xerces-c (rather xerces-c27) nor an EPEL bug, I'm closing it.
Sorry for the trouble and thanks for your helpful tips! They got me at least as far as my solution but with less work.
