Description of problem: I'm trying out F16beta on a number of platforms. I have hit a problem with a system based on Intel Atom 330 - Intel mainboard D945GCLF2 Both 32-bit and 64-bit Live USB image boots and appears to install just fine onto the hard-disk. However, on reboot the system does not recognise the disk as bootable. I have tried various times, and also tried installing the bootloader on sda1 rather than the BIOS boot partition. F15 installs absolutely fine. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: Steps to Reproduce: 1. Get D945GCLF2 mainboard, attach hard disk (monitor, etc) 2. Boot F16 Beta Live image on USB (32 or 64 bit, either will do) 3. Install to disk 4. Reboot Actual results: System does not recognise disk as bootable. Expected results: F16 beta boots. Additional info: I assume this is linked to GRUB2, but why this mainboard doesn't read the boot partition I'd don't know. I did spot a similar issue being reported on Macs?
There has been a number of fixes in this area since the beta. Can you try Fedora 16 Final Test Compose 2? Perhaps with the nogpt option mentioned on Bug 735733 ?
Hi - would love to, but the hard-disk concerned just got a drop and has become somewhat uncooperative... :( I've got a new SSD on the way, so once that arrives I'll be able to free up a drive to test and I'll get back to you. Where do I get the Live image you mention? As a PS, I have managed to install without any issue on a Samsung NC10 (dual boot with WinXP). There were no issues with that, and I know it's also an Atom.
PS Have read through that bug you mentioned - sounds very like it. Would also explain why the NC10 doesn't have the issue (was replacing a Meego installation).
(In reply to comment #2) > Where do I get the Live image you mention? See http://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/test-announce/2011-October/000315.html - but there will probably be something even better before you get to it. No response - closing.
