Created attachment 528271 [details] Compatible Group creation of Tomcat and JVM instances Description of problem: When creating a "Compatible Group" of EWS Tomcat 6.x and associated JVM, the group will not appear after creation under the "Compatible Groups" Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): JON Beta v3.0 EWS v1.0.2 How reproducible: Consistent by inventorying a Tomcat instance and associated JVM Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start EWS Tomcat 6.x instance 2. Inventory EWS Tomcat 6.x instance and JVM 3. Create "Compatible Group", recursive option selected Actual results: Group is created with EWS Tomcat server and associated JVM(see CompatGroupTomcat.png). However, the group is not available under "Compatible Groups". It does appear under "All Groups". Expected results: Appear under Compatible Groups Additional info: Under All Groups there is not a "Type" or "Plugin" listed for the Tomcat created Group(see AllGroupList.png). If you select the group, remove the associated JVM servers from the group, update the membership, the group will now appear under "Compatible Groups". Likewise, if you create a "Compatible Group" using just the EWS Tomcat Servers(no associated JVM), the Group will appear under "Compatible Groups".

The issue is that you can't create a compatible group of Tomcats and JVMs because they are different resource types. So what happens is that the system uses the types of the resources in the actual group and converts it into a mixed group, hence why it appears under the All Groups section but not compatible groups.

Charles, Please see attachment Tomcat_Compat_Group.png. This was allowed under JON v2.4.1, perhaps this was a bug and should not have been allowed.
