Gigabyte Z68XP-USB3 motherboard with 8 GB RAM. Hitachi 3TB 6GB/sec drive connected to the onboard Marvell SATA 3 port. It looks like Fedora 16 cannot do EFI.
Is this better with a tree containing anaconda-16.21 or later?
Would I get a later Anaconda revision by using the online updates while installing my current FC16 beta, or do I need to download a rawhide boot ISO? I can do either, this is a brand new system, that has no data. I am running on a 90GB SSD now, and I had no issues installing to the (much smaller) SSD on the same SATA port and motherboard settings.
Ah, but after thinking: EFI would turn off on the motherboard for a smaller SSD. So the 3TB hard drive to 90GB is not the only change between the failure to install and my system running on the SSD. I think the motherboard switches boot modes when no giant hard drive is connected.
(In reply to comment #3) > Is this better with a tree containing anaconda-16.21 or later? I had the same problem when trying to install today, but grabbing the latest version of Branch anaconda (16.22) worked. Using the online updates didn't work for me, but the branch (not rawhide) boot.iso worked. See: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Releases/Branched#Direct_install_using_daily_Branched_Anaconda_build
