Description of problem: At the Create User screen of the firstboot process, clicking the Advanced button brings up the User Manager window. When that window is minimised, it disappears and cannot be reached. The focus is now on User Manager rather than the Create User screen, so you cannot move back or forward or select anything on the screen. The whole process comes to a halt. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Fedora 16 How reproducible: Should be simple during a fresh installation. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install Fedora 16 Beta and start firstboot process 2. At Create User screen, click Advanced button and then minimise it 3. Confirm that no buttons or options can be selected and Advanced window cannot be maximised Actual results: Cannot proceed to next stage of firstboot, or interact with it at all. Expected results: Minimised Advanced window should remain visible so that it can be retrieved, or firstboot should otherwise be able to proceed. Additional info: This was observed on a virtual machine.
I looked at this, and it requires a small patch for system-config-users. I already contacted the maintainer of system-config-users, and I will apply the firstboot patch, as soon as the system-config-users is patched.
I'll apply this patch in s-c-users, but ideally this should be a catch-all solution, i.e. change/configure the window manager used in firstboot to not minimize any windows. This way it would work for any external programs called from within firstboot.
